this is replacing an Ehiem 1260 that got noisy, I keep getting up from my desk to make sure it’s still running its so quiet. I have it turned down to 2 lights so I don’t pump all the water out of the sump…….why did I wait……..lol
great pump so far, just got it but if it stays like this its a great value

Exceptional performance and features for a reasonable price. This is my 2nd Coral Box return pump. The first one is much larger, has been in service for over a year, and has never been cleaned. I know, shame on me but it just keeps going. This smaller Coral Box pump is for a 25 watt UV and is plumbed with approximately 6′ vertical and 6 right angles. At 50% power my 1″ Apex flow meter indicates 300gph. As another point of reference, I’ve had to clean my Red Sea RSK 900 skimmer pump, which I bought approximately at the same time, every 6 weeks. Just getting to the red sea pump is an ordeal. I’ve had the same experiences with my 2 MP40 power heads. They “stall” so often I literally bought an extra set of “wet sides” and let the dirty ones soak in a vinegar solution until it’s time to repeat. As another contrast, my two pairs of Jebao SW4/SW8/PP?pumps have also been in service without being cleaned for at least a year. One of the Jebao wavemakers I’m currently running had seized up after years of neglect and ended up in my parts bucket. I had another pump fail and I needed a replacement asap. On a whim I soaked the old seized Jebao in a strong-ish acid solution (I also brew beer and have some odd chemicals available) for a few hours, scrubbed it, rinsed it, and was dumbfounded that it seems to be running perfectly for months now! I spent too many years buying expensive gear only to have it fail. I still buy premium priced hardware when it’s warranted, but thus far all of my pump experiences have convinced me you can still get Apex controllable quality pumps for a very reasonable price.
